Favorite Stores

These are my favorite places to shop for books and curriculum materials.

Amazon is one of my go-to places to shop for books (or just about anything really). They have great sales and offer free shipping on orders over $25. It's sort of like the Wal-mart of the online world (the everything-in-one-place place).

Rainbow Resource Center has been in business for over 20 years and is a leading provider of educational products to homeschoolers, parents, and educators. They carry over  40,000 products in all subject areas, for grades Pre-K-12 and beyond! Additionally, they offer free shipping when you place an order of $150 or more (a good incentive to get all your curriculum there), consultants that can answer questions at no charge, and a 1300-page catalog that you can request for free either by mail or download.

Hearts At Home is another Christian based business owned and operated by other homeschoolers. They offer over 9,000 products from over 200 publishing companies at super low prices, frequently featuring sales up to 30% on popular items. Plus, you can earn 2% of your purchases in store credit each time you buy from them through their unique Rewards Program. They also offer personalized assistance with getting started in homeschooling and through comprehensive reviews of their products.

Queen Homeschool Supplies is a family business from the Queen family and several others, all homeschoolers. Their experience allows them to offer all sorts of homeschooling products, from traditonal textbooks to more fun and creative materials. I love their site though because it has a heavy focus on living books for learning.

FBS Books is a 2nd generation, small homeschooling family owned business. They offer competitive prices and a lot of hands-on books and materials. The offer specials to both schools and parents as well.

Alibris Books is a great place to go if you'd rather not shop at a "big box" chain store. They have millions of books including many our-of-print and hard-to-find books from independent sellers. The also offer a comprehensive selection of CDs, rocords, and movies. Search or browse for any item and you see all copies available from various sellers and sort them by variables such seller rating, price or condition. All sellers are upheld to a strict ethical code to help ensure customer satisfaction. Alibris also offers free shipping on items with the Super Value Shipping truck icon and on eligible orders over $49.

Abe Books is another place with new, used, rare and out-of-print books similar to Alibris. Readers can find bestsellers, collectors can find rare books, students can find new and used textbooks, and treasure hunters can find long-lost books. Their unique inventory of books for sale from booksellers includes the world’s finest antiquarian books dating back to the 15th century, countless out-of-print gems, millions of signed books, millions of used copies, a vast selection of college textbooks and new books too.

Homeschool Classifieds is one of the largest sites on the web for buying and selling new and used homeschool materials, and for finding and announcing homeschool groups, activities, and events. I love it because you use credits in order to list your items for sale, and you can earn credits by posting things like activities, field trips, thoughts, etc. There are thousands of listings by other homeschoolers sorted by category, grade, or publisher and you can also list any items you're looking for, homeschooling advice, or groups you belong to.
