Saturday my oldest daughter, Skylar, turned 11 years old. I can't believe that time has gone by so quickly. I have to brag on her and say, Look what a beautiful young lady she's becoming. *sniffle*
Unfortunately, we weren't able to have a party for her this year since money is so tight, but she and her sister happened to have a sleepover with their Mpact troop scheduled the night before anyway. They had a lot of fun playing games and I made 3 dozen cupcakes for them to share with their friends.so it was sort of like a party. They sang Happy Birthday to her and had a good time.
In lieu of a party, we gave her a little bit of money so she could spend it how she pleased. Thankfully, like her mama, she's a frugal girl and wanted to hit the flea market and thrift stores first. Love it!
For family movie night, she got to pick what movie we watched (Katy Perry: Part of Me, which actually wasn't too bad). Then instead of a traditional birthday cake, I honored her special request for a cheesecake. I made a cheesecake with fudge and strawberries.
You can see that I didn't wait until the chocolate icing cooled down enough when I wrote on her cake. It was a little too melted so it sort of blurred together lol. Oh well, she still enjoyed it and it was yummy!
